Our Growing History – “The Garage”

The 1 car under the house garage at the rear of 81 Rockaway Ave in Marblehead Ma started as a place to workout with friends. It grew into a social meeting place. If we were there, you could see the light from under the half closed door and everyone was welcome to hang out and smoke and drink and listen to or make music.  A tradition started where some of our more artistic friends painted the walls with murals while stoned, those murals are still there 40 years later. Many peoples first time getting stoned was down there, and there are some legendary stories told of partying in the garage , the names will be kept anonymous, but you know who you are 😉 Being a stoner from the 70’s, I started experimenting with growing my own way back then. Back in those days we were smoking Acapolco Gold, Colombian, Thai Stix, Afghani, the dreaded mexican, and then came “sinsemilla” and eventually the stronger kind bud strains that we smoke today. In the 40yrs I’ve been growing indoors and outdoors, I’ve gone from soil, to hydro, to ebb and flow, finally to Deep Water Culture (DWC). There is something to be said for each method, but I have found in the last 10yrs that DWC if done well can produce the most resinous, dense, tasty buds with the least amount of other problems like insects and soil issues. Drying your buds properly, being meticulous in the growing, trimming, and curing is most important and will reap wonderful rewards….Can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard since it’s gone legal that thought they would throw seeds in the ground and money would grow, its really a lot more of a labor of love and hard work than most folks realize…It’s all about Taste and Quality in my book and that takes patience and dedication, it’s more of a sense of pride than anything when you smoke a fatty with your friends and everyone and the dank smell of kind bud burning is wafting while everyone is smiling….
So, Stonedelephantcannabis has now been born…

This Steal Your Face was the first mural done by my friend and neighbor Tom. Wish I had a better picture…

The New Riders of the Purple Sage was the 2nd mural, and it was done by my brother…

Panama Red is courtesy of my neighbor and friend Steve. He also did the life size Thorin Oakenshield…

Pretty sure this was done by the infamous Tranq Jones, this was the cat from the fabulous furry freak brother comics
